Somos PAC Celebrates Signing of Historic Inflation Reduction Act
Washington, DC. – Today, Somos PAC, a Latino-led organization focused on persuading and mobilizing Latino voters, released the following statement celebrating the signing of the historic Inflation Reduction Act by President Biden:
“Working people are the engines of our economy and are leading us toward a better future. The Inflation Reduction Act gives them the tools and opportunities they need in order to do that,” said Melissa Morales, Founder and President of Somos PAC. “The signing of this historic law by President Biden, after being passed by Democrats in Congress without a single Republican vote, was only made possible because working people, especially Latinos and other People of Color, turned out to vote in record numbers and elected Democratic leaders who are getting the job done. Today we take a moment to celebrate and imagine what more will be possible when working people turn out again come November.”
“Actions speak louder than words,” said Cecia Alvarado, Nevada Executive Director for Somos PAC. “The signing of the Inflation Reduction Act into law makes it crystal clear where Democrats like Senator Catherine Cortez Masto stand when it comes to looking out for working people and where Republicans like Adam Laxalt are falling short. We will work even harder to make sure that voters, especially Latinos, see, hear, and know that stark difference. The well being of our hard working families depends on it.”
Somos PAC is on track to knock on 1 million doors before Election Day in Nevada, Arizona and Michigan, layering those conversations with mail, TV and digital outreach in addition to other community engagement efforts. Our goal is to ensure Latino voters have the tools and information they need to vote in the midterm elections.
